For more than 4 years now, war has been raging in Ukraine. Faced with the humanitarian crisis, the Salesians and Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco are trying to continue their mission for vulnerable young people as best they can.
Education provides children with stability, encouragement and hope for the future. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, 240 students at the Vsesvit Salesian Lyceum in Zhytomyr have continued to access quality education throughout the 2025/26 academic year.
Funding from donations, supported the salaries of 40 teachers and a school psychologist, ensuring students could continue learning in a stable and supportive environment. In a time of unimaginable hardship and distress, psychosocial support for young people and their teachers, is essential to maintaining normality in their daily lives.
This support strengthened both educational continuity and staff stability, helping the school maintain high educational standards during a difficult period. Teachers were able to remain focused on accompanying and educating their students, while children continued to benefit from a consistent learning environment and access to wellbeing support.
The Salesian family in Ukraine expressed their gratitude:
“We are sincerely grateful for your support. It has contributed to the stability of the educational process and provided encouragement and assistance to a school community living amid the challenges of war.”
Thank you for helping ensure that young people in Ukraine can continue to learn, grow and look to the future with confidence.
