NEPAL – Rebuilding Classrooms and Restoring Hope

Despite ongoing challenges, communities across Nepal continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience in the face of flooding and subsequent landslides. As recovery efforts continue, we keep those affected in our prayers.

Among the communities impacted by the floods was Bageshwori Secondary School in Dhading, where floodwaters and mud inundated classrooms, damaging learning materials and disrupting the education of local children.

As recovery efforts continue, the focus is now turning from emergency response to longer-term rebuilding.

Following on-the-ground assessments, the Nepal Don Bosco Society is working with the school to restore a safe and welcoming learning environment. Priorities include replacing damaged classroom equipment and restoring library and educational resources.

The project will also provide student motivation activities and psychosocial support, by supporting teachers with training to help students return to learning with confidence.

Recovery is about more than rebuilding classrooms. It is about helping children regain a sense of stability, hope and normality after a traumatic experience. As families begin rebuilding their lives, ensuring children can safely return to learning remains a vital part of the recovery journey.

Please continue to keep the people of Nepal in your prayers as recovery efforts continue and children work towards returning to normal life and learning.
