Our Values
Education is a matter of the heart
– St. Don Bosco
At Salesian Missions Australia, our work is inspired by the life and vision of St. John Bosco, who believed that every young person deserves dignity, opportunity and hope.
Don Bosco dedicated his life to supporting young people who were poor, vulnerable, and excluded from society. Through education, friendship, faith, and practical support, he helped them discover their full potential and build a brighter future. Today, this vision continues to guide everything we do.

Human Dignity
Believing in the Dignity of Every Person
Every person is created with inherent dignity and worth. We respect and value each individual, regardless of their background, culture, beliefs, or circumstances.
We work to ensure that vulnerable young people and communities have access to the opportunities and support they need to thrive

Preferential Care for the Poor
Standing with the Young and Vulnerable
Don Bosco had a special concern for young people experiencing disadvantage, and so do we.
We prioritise support for those facing poverty, exclusion, conflict, displacement, and limited access to education or opportunity, helping create pathways to a better future.

Stewardship of Creation
Caring for Our Common Home
We recognise our responsibility to care for creation and to build a future where both people and the environment can flourish.
Through sustainable development practices and responsible stewardship, we seek to protect the wellbeing of future generations.

Subsidiarity and Participation
Working in Partnership
Lasting change happens when communities are empowered to shape their own future.
We work alongside local Salesian partners, community leaders, families, and young people, supporting locally led solutions that respond to real needs and create sustainable outcomes.

Economic Justice and Dignity of Work
Creating Opportunities Through Education and Work
Education was at the heart of Don Bosco’s mission and remains at the heart of ours. We believe that education and meaningful work provide young people with dignity, independence, and hope. Through education, vocational training, skills development, and employment pathways, we empower young people to realise their potential, participate fully in their communities, and build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Solidarity
We Are One Global Family
As part of the worldwide Salesian family, we are connected to communities across the globe.
We believe in solidarity, standing with others in times of hardship and celebrating together in times of hope. Through collaboration, generosity, and shared responsibility, we work to create a more just and compassionate world.

Common Good
Working for the Common Good
We believe that every person flourishes when communities flourish. Through education, development, humanitarian assistance, and community partnerships, we work towards a world where everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute, and reach their full potential.
Our Commitment
Our values are grounded in the Salesian tradition, Catholic Social Teaching, and internationally recognised human rights principles. These foundations guide our commitment to promoting dignity, equality, participation, and opportunity for all, especially those who are most vulnerable.
