TIMOR-LESTE – Reliable Water Strengthens Agricultural Education

Don Bosco Fuiloro, Timor-Leste

A reliable water supply is transforming both learning and food production at Don Bosco Agricultural School Fuiloro in Timor-Leste. Following the completion of a new borehole and water storage system, students now have improved access to the water needed to support agricultural training and expand food production throughout the year.

Earlier improvements to the school’s water infrastructure helped strengthen access to water for daily living. This latest project builds on that foundation by providing water for the school’s agricultural land, ensuring students can gain practical farming experience while caring for crops even during the dry season.

As an agricultural school, hands-on learning is central to student formation. The new borehole will irrigate training farmland, allowing students to develop skills in vegetable production and sustainable farming practices while preparing them for future livelihoods in their communities.

The project will also strengthen food security for the school and the wider community. Fresh produce grown by students helps support the boarding community and provides affordable vegetables for local families.
