Construction Begins on DBTC’s New Classroom Development

Exciting progress is underway at Don Bosco Technical Centre (DBTC) in Alafua, Samoa, with construction officially commencing on the school’s much-needed new classroom building. Following site preparation works, including the removal of an outdated toilet block, the project has now moved into the construction phase.

The project responds to rapidly growing enrolments, expanding waiting lists, and significant overcrowding across the school. Once completed, the new facility will provide additional learning spaces, including a library and study area, as well as bathroom facilities and dedicated classroom to support the new Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration course.

These new classrooms will help relieve pressure on existing facilities, support diverse learning needs, and create opportunities for more young people to access quality vocational education. The project will also strengthen literacy, study skills, English proficiency, and future employment opportunities for students both in Samoa and overseas.

Importantly, construction will provide valuable hands-on learning opportunities for current trade students, allowing them to gain practical experience by contributing to the project where possible.

We look forward to sharing regular construction updates as this important development takes shape and continues to invest in the future of Samoa’s young people.
